I am very passionate about working with young women in this age group.

I understand how challenging this life stage can be and I know that the skills I have learned through my 10+ years in the wellness industry can really empower young girls and give them the confidence to face uncertainty and challenging times.

My goal is to deliver this information in a fun and relaxed manner and to send the girls home with a toolkit that they can reach into in times of difficulty.

To give them back their power, let them see how capable and amazing they are and teach them how to cope with issues such as bullying and peer pressure.  Transitioning from primary to secondary school, facing end of year exams and trying to ‘fit in’ are all BIG in the eyes of a teen.

 

My therapy dog ‘Chunk’ will join us for this workshop, his presence alone brings a sense of calm to the room and helps the girls to relax. 

How this session can help you

Balance Hormones

When our stress hormones are elevated it plays havoc with our hormonal balance.

In this workshop we will learn breathing techniques to alleviate stress and reduce the stress hormones of cortisol and adrenaline. Thus bringing about hormonal balance & a sense of peace.

Social Interaction

This workshop provides a space for young girls to come together, alone or with friends, to chat with their own age group and share stories.

I will do a Q&A with the girls at the end of the session so that they can learn from one anothers questions.

Improved Posture

Sitting for 8 hours per day is terrible for anyones posture but particularly for young women who are still growing and developing.

In this session I will teach the girls how to undo the damage of sitting at a desk all day with some simple stretches.

Stress Management

Stress and our ability to deal with it is a major player when it comes to our mood and mental health.

In this session we will explore various techniques to cope with stress and also the significance of gratitude and journaling to help slow down the over thinking mind.

Improved Sleep

I will teach techniques in this workshop that have a down-regulating effect on the nervous system. Meaning it brings it out of 'fight/flight' mode and into 'rest/repair'

As we release tension, the nervous system begins to relax, this then places us into a down regulated state ideal for sleep!

Improved Quality of Life

When we learn to control our emotions we feel empowered and become happier and more resilient.

This improves immune system function, improves your mood and focus, keeps your heart healthy, and improves your emotional and mental wellbeing.

 ABOUT SHIRLÍ:

I have been practicing yoga since 2009 and qualified as a teacher  in 2012.  I had a serious car accident in 2013 where I suffered a brain haemorrhage and broke C5 in my neck.  This accident and my subsequent recovery was my catalyst for seeking and learning all types of healing modalities. 

I have a deep interest in all things connected to our well-being and a keen interest in stress management, brain health, sleep and fertility support. 

I am qualified in many forms of yoga along with mindfulness, meditation, stress management and I am a certified Breath coach.

I teach online through zoom, I run workshops monthly and retreats 2-3 times per year. I’m easy to find on social media @vitalityvibe. I would love to see you in class some day and I hope my experience and knowledge helps you advance toward your mind-body fitness goals.

 

 ABOUT CHUNK:

Mr Chunk is 5 years old and is a registered therapy dog with Therapy Dogs Nationwide.  He visits nursing homes and schools and loves to interact with all age groups.  He has a very relaxed disposition and spreads smiles everywhere he goes.  In his downtime he like to chase squirrels in the woods, his favourite treat is chicken and he really doesn’t like the hoover!

Shirli took on a group from PTSB and I can only describe the overall experience as phenomenal. The benefits were felt from day 1 of the 6 week program. The sessions were both fun and beneficial. Every participant raved about it and were all in better form from day 1. Cannot recommend Shirli any higher than saying we will be all reconnecting for a further program. 10 out of 10.

Thank you so much Shirli for the classes at HITtheWALL 2022. All Swimmers left the classes with more knowledge of how to maintain injury free when swimming longer distances, swimmers just felt so relaxed and energised for the swims over the weekend. Having been accustomed to live yoga classes I never imagined it any other way. Along came lockdown and Zoom yoga classes were a lifeline both for the yoga content and the banter with Shirli and the group. Then Vitality Vibe arrived and I thought initially that it wouldn’t be for me. I doubted my own motivation to use the site and if I did it would be a “robotic” process! But, knowing I could cancel at any time, I took up membership and joined a whole new world……. Yoga classes recorded from live classes (some of which I had attended) so nothing “robotic” about them. Shirli’s teaching is so natural and easy to follow, with options for all abilities and the banter is still there! The options for doing my practice are varied. I can choose the length of time I want to spend and choose the areas I want to work on (all clearly laid out). I also like to walk and I have used the site for short (18 mins) sessions to loosen up before a long hill walk. Yoga, with all its options, is only a part of what is available from Vitality Vibe. There’s an entire medical cabinet waiting to be discovered.
